Poosit and Jazz go low to grab third-round lead at Bharath Classic

Poosit Supupramai delivered an impressive performance in the third round of the Bharath Classic 2025 Gujarat, securing a share of the lead with a hole-in-one on the 16th hole and a chip-in birdie on the 18th.

He and compatriot Jazz Janewattananond handled the uncommon shotgun start smoothly at Kensville Golf Resort near Ahmedabad, topping the leaderboard at 15-under par. Poosit carded a 66, while Jazz posted a bogey-free 65, three strokes ahead of fellow Thai Panuphol Pittarayat (70), Korea's Heemin Chang (71), and Indian amateur Ishaan Chawhan (68).

This near-final Asian Tour event of the season sees players vying for top-65 Order of Merit spots to lock in next year's status. Poosit, sitting 81st, needs strong finishes or a win—which grants a full-year exemption—desperately. The 31-year-old started on the first hole, birdieing six, seven, and 12 before his dramatic close with a seven-iron ace on the par-3 16th. He noted playing steadily like prior rounds but getting lucky on key shots, marking his best Asian Tour result as third at last year's SJM Macao Open.

Jazz, 14th on the merit list and the field's top-ranked entrant, aims to sharpen form for January's LIV Golf Promotions event in the US. His bogey-free round featured solid birdies, though he rued missed par-5 chances. A win would be his eighth on tour, first since 2022's International Series Morocco.

England's Steve Lewton (69) and Spain's Carlos Pigem (71) share sixth at 11-under, with overnight leader Wooyoung Cho slipping to 75 after a 74. The $500,000 tournament, co-sanctioned with the new Indian Golf Premier League, features innovations like shotgun starts.
